Why Enroll in This Course?

Want to connect a real PLC to Ignition and use live PLC data to build an HMI? This course will show you how, step by step, and help you build practical skills in SCADA.

In Ignition SCADA 2: Connecting PLCs Using OPC UA, you'll learn how OPC UA communication works and how to connect Ignition to OPC UA servers. You'll start with simulation software, then move on to a real Phoenix Contact PLCnext controller.

Through practical examples, you'll learn how to configure OPC UA connections, access PLC tags, and build HMIs in Ignition Perspective to monitor live data and control devices. You'll also create a tank-level monitoring HMI with alarms and an HMI to start and stop a motor and fan.

This is the second course in our Ignition SCADA series and builds on what you learned in Ignition SCADA 1: Introduction to Ignition. If you haven't taken the first course yet, we recommend completing it before starting this one, as several lessons build on projects created in that course.

After completing the course, you'll earn a certificate of completion from RealPars.

With a RealPars membership, you get access to all the courses in our training library for one affordable monthly or yearly fee. You'll also get access to new courses as we publish them regularly.
